Toronto traffic forecasts & planning guides

Core Toronto traffic planning pages

Major roads

All roads
  • Highway 401

Ontario's busiest highway and the northern boundary of Toronto's expressway grid.

  • Gardiner Expressway

Toronto's elevated downtown expressway, running along the waterfront from the QEW to the DVP. Short by Ontario standards (~18 km), but it carries enormous Friday-evening and event-day load.

  • Don Valley Parkway

Toronto's north-south expressway through the Don Valley, connecting the 401 to the Gardiner.

  • Highway 410

Highway 410 connects Brampton north of the 401 to Caledon, feeding traffic into the 401 westbound corridor.

  • Lake Shore Boulevard

Toronto's main waterfront arterial running parallel to the Gardiner Expressway.

  • Rogers Centre

Limited on-site parking. Most game-day traffic uses lots along Bremner, Front, and Lake Shore. GO Transit is fastest from outside the core.

  • Scotiabank Arena

On-site garage fills early before puck/tip. Maple Leaf Square and Union Station garages are alternates. Transit is often simpler on event nights.

  • BMO Field

Exhibition Place lots fill quickly on match days. Lake Shore Boulevard sees heavy westbound queueing pre-match.

  • RBC Amphitheatre

Limited Ontario Place parking. Expect Lake Shore and Dufferin Gate congestion before and after waterfront concerts.

  • Coca-Cola Coliseum

Shared Exhibition Place lots use the same local approaches as BMO Field. Watch for event-night overlap with TFC matches.
